U/Likealittleteapot: “I used to work in an air traffic control tower- we would fairly often have new pilots visit and see the airport and what happens from the air traffic control side of things. I was on a break when a particular pilot was visiting; and was the only female air traffic controller in that workplace. The visiting pilot finishes his cup of coffee, hands me mug and says ‘wash that would you love’.

By the time he’d returned to his aircraft, my break was over. He unfortunately found himself at the back of a rather long departure queue. I wanted him to have some time listening to the frequency and absorbing the fact that if a woman is in a professional environment she’s probably not the f—— tea lady.”
